Sports Innovation Lab Partners With LPGA to Grow the Footprint of Women's Golf

PR Newswire

Amidst growing interest in golf competition and lifestyle amongst youth demographics, the LPGA brings in Sports Innovation Lab to help solidify its growing community

BOSTON, March 23, 2023 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Sports Innovation Lab, a data-driven fan intelligence company, has formed a new partnership with the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) that promises to grow the footprint of women's golf and enhance the organization's fan experience.

Riding a recent explosion of Gen Z interest in golf culture, the LPGA will utilize Sports Innovation Lab's data-driven insights to develop more dynamic fan personas that better reflect women's golf's evolving and diverse fan base. With several tentpole tournaments approaching in early 2023, the LPGA is eager to apply a more advanced layer of fan data to its business intelligence practice.

"We're excited to partner with Sports Innovation Lab to take our fan intelligence and engagement efforts to the next level," said LPGA Chief Marketing, Communications & Brand Officer Matt Chmura. "A goal of the LPGA is to be a leader in fan insights, research and intelligence, and working with Sports Innovation Lab will allow us to both broaden and deepen what we know about our current fans, and develop a richer profile for our future fans."

Sports Innovation Lab analyzed the growth of the women's sports fan community and found that it was acquiring new fans at a rate almost double that of traditional sports. This explosive trajectory for women's sports, paired with golf's current recent cultural explosion presents the LPGA with a unique opportunity to accelerate. Golf's pop cultural aesthetic - termed "Golf 6.0" - features an aggressive volume of new DTC equipment brands, fashion-forward apparel brands for men and women, grassless golfing options such as TopGolf and simulators, and an enthusiastic social media community that engages with content promoting lifestyle and values in stride with legacy performance-oriented content. Per the National Golf Foundation, one out of every three Americans over the age of six played golf (on-course or off-course), followed golf on television or online, read about the game, or listened to a golf-related podcast in 2021.

"We're thrilled to partner with the LPGA to help grow the footprint of women's golf," said Angela Ruggiero, Co-founder and CEO of Sports Innovation Lab. "They're a key player paving the way for women's sports, and when armed with our fan data there's no stopping the growth ahead for the association."
