ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich., Oct. 27, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- In his capacity as a counselor to couples, families and palliative care patients, Ronald D. Ramsey, MEd, DMin, LMFT, witnessed firsthand the devastation caused by the inability to forgive. While people commonly mistake the sentiment of forgiveness for forgiveness itself, the real work lies in releasing the pain and distress that linger long after a transgression has passed, a skill that is neither taught nor innately learned.
In his new book, "Forty Days to Forgiveness: A Christian's Field Guide to the Forgiveness Journey," Ramsey blends scripture with behavioral science research and professional and personal insight to unravel the complexities surrounding forgiveness. He walks readers through each step of the process, from becoming ready to forgive and acknowledging the emotional impact of past transgressions to committing to personal growth, maturing spiritually and sustaining emotional peace. Journaling exercises also accompany each chapter, provoking a deeper exploration of the reader's emotional world and grounding them in their forgiveness journey.
Through educating on the tenants of forgiveness and providing experiential tools that allow for real-world application, Ramsey hopes to help others heal from past hurts and prevent future emotional upheaval. Whether used by everyday readers in their journey to recovery or by ministers, pastoral counselors and mental health professional in their work with clients, "Forty Days to Forgiveness" is a valuable resource for anyone seeking the necessary skills for long-lasting change.
"There are thousands of illnesses that plague humankind, which in medicine we seek not to only treat but also to identify the root cause," wrote Earlexia M. Norwood, MD. "The countless deaths and lives detoured from their purpose because of the internal turmoil of unforgiveness are why you must read this book. Dr. Ramsey details the methodology to forgiveness and freedom. Adhere and be healed."
"As a pastoral psychotherapist for nearly fifty years, I know that forgiveness is a major issue for many people," wrote Rev. Wayne Perry, DMin, PhD, LMFT. "I would have liked to have had a book like this one that I could put in the hands of my clients to help them work through the process of forgiveness. It is a difficult journey through that wilderness, but Dr. Ramsey's book provides a helpful guide."
